“Lost Pet Protocol and Prevention”
Tuesday, September 29, 2020

One of the scariest realities of caring for dogs and cats in a pet care business is the pet escape risk. There can often be hidden escape paths throughout a facility that the business owner and manager may not see or think about until it’s too late. Even with tight security measures, the reality is that there are many variables out of the business owners and manager’s control that can lead to an escaped pet. Kennelwood Pet Resorts would like to share our experiences and things we have learned in our 46 year history regarding prevention measures and escape pet protocol.

Key takeaways from this session:

  • To teach attendees to look for facility flaws or other hidden areas that a pet may use to escape from a pet care facility.
  • To provide attendees with best practices for an escape pet protocol and to give them the tools they need to create their own protocol.
  • To teach attendees the importance of transparency and immediate client communication in the event a pet is lost and how to handle this type of client conversation.
